Breakfast at Jones the Grocer

Jones the Grocer – Dubai

One morning, Tim and I decided to use our Entertainer and look at the breakfast options they offer. We looked up restaurants that weren’t far away from our place and agreed to eat at Jones the Grocer. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner and has a mini mart, bakery and sells variety of cheese. The menu offers mainly western food but has range of dishes to try.

A restaurant ambiance is pleasant, it has floor to ceiling windows which allows natural light to brighten the space and the interiors are quite minimal. I like its interiors and everything they offer. Yes, it is a bit pricey for what they serve but every now and then I like to buy cheese from their store.

Thai Dinner at Royal Orchid

Asian Food and Shisha combined at Royal Orchid. There are several branches around Dubai but Tim and I visited the one in Downtown Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard since it’s closer to my office. It’s a lovely Thai restaurant that serves variety of dishes from dry food, fried and curry.

The restaurant is divided into two parts, the none smoking and smoking which includes the terrace. Tim ordered the Chili Garlic Chicken and I ordered Minced Chicken with Chili and Basil (Kai Phad Krapao).

Food Box Restaurant

On our way to November Café we made a quick stop at a Japanese restaurant called ‘Food Box’ located in the same area. Tim and I were very hungry so I ordered Shrimp Dynamite Sandwich and Tim had a Chicken Dynamite Sandwich. The menu has other interesting dishes to try which we will try next time but we were in a hurry so we ate our sandwiches, paid and made quick stop to get our coffee before heading back home.

Best Coffee in UAE at November Cafe

Located in the outskirts of Sharjah city, far from civilization. What I mean by civilization, no skyscrapers and no accessible public transportation. My brother ‘Mohammad’ introduced us to November Café and we tried a lot of different type of coffees.

Post-106-BT-01

Their signature drink is called Novo Rose and I ordered it twice. The coffee beans are imported from Italy and desserts are baked fresh from their oven like cookies and biscuits. They place accommodates 11- 13 people. Although the café is tiny, we highly recommend you to try their coffee.

Palestinian Breakfast at Zaroob

Palestinian Breakfast at Zaroob

So, we treated our friend ‘Jiju’ for a Palestinian breakfast at an Arabic restaurant called Zaroob. Zaroob is translated to alley. The restaurant has lots branches around the UAE and we chose Sheikh Zayed Road because it is the middle meeting point for us all.

Post-105-BT-01

The restaurant serves dishes from Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon. Everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered Palestinian Fateh, Lahem Bajeen with Pomegranate, Makanek and Beid with Sujok. We recommend you guys to try other dishes because everything they serve is delicious.

Italian Dinner at Dinamico

We celebrated our friends Sharanya and Murren’s birthday at Dinamico. An Italian restaurant located in Sky Garden in DIFC. The ambience is cosy and the service was spot on. The staff were very friendly and even the chef came to our table to take our order and recommended what food to order. Everything we ate was delicious.

Mexican Food at Rosa Mexicano

We’ve been to Rosa Mexicano several times and went there to celebrate Mimi’s Birthday together. We ordered Beef/ Chicken Fajitas and Chicken Quesadillas. The interior is super cool with all the colourful walls and furniture. There is also a corner where you can wear a sombrero and poncho and take a picture with the Mexican desert in the background.

Weekend Stay at Al Hamra Village

Tim and I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary in Ras Al Khaimah. We stayed at a hotel called Al Hamra Village and Residence. not so far away from the boarders of Um Al Quwain.

Post-102-BT-02.jpg

We decided to go for a swim as soon as we checked-in our room. At around 17:00, we planned to try out the couple massage which we realised we needed. While paying at the counter, the man informed us that there was a pool party at the Palace Hotel from 18:00 – 22:00. The pool party’s DJ played awesome music, he played 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music. I started dancing when he played Boney M and Peter Andre.

Post-102-BT-04.jpg

The Palace Hotel is part of the Al Hamra Village and it just a 10 minute walk from each other. Al Hamra Village has a Massage Centre, Restaurants and Swimming Pool. While Palace Hotel offers the same facilities, they have 2 pros which are:-

  1. They have 2 Swimming Pools. One of the pool has a volleyball net.
  2. Access to the Beach

Although it is a 5 star hotel, the rooms are fairly reasonably priced. So if ever you want to visit Ras Al Khaimah on a budget, we recommend this hotel. The only con we found is that WIFI is only provided in the Hotel reception and not in the rooms.

Tips :

  • If you are staying in Al Hamra Village, you can still have breakfast in the Palace Hotel.
  • Seafood Restaurant located in the Palace is included in the Entertainer.
  • Ask Al Hamra Reception if they offer discount coupons for the restaurants in both Al Hamra and Palace.

Digital Marketing Event at Hangry Hangers

Ever since I started following Hangry Hangers on Facebook, I constantly check their upcoming events. In addition to that, I joined EventBrite and registered online for Digital Marketing Event for Start Ups.

Post100_BT_02.jpg

Besides the fact that this website is a startup, we also have future plans to start our own business so we thought this event would be a great opportunity to market our services and also can be cost effective. Tim and I learned a lot about Digital Marketing, Web Content and Social Media. The event was organised by The Bureau Dubai.

Post100_BT_03

The Bureau Dubai helps entrepreneurs set up their business or even assist start ups. They’ve got service office you can lease. Not necessary an office, you can also rent a desk.

As mentioned in my previous blog, Hangry Hangers offers street food. We ordered from Hooked and they cooked the meal and served immediately, Tim had a Teryaki Beef Pita Taco and I had Tofu Pita Taco. A fusion of Asian and Mexican and must I say ‘es muy delicioso’.

Post100_BT_04

So here is a summary of the post.

  1. Looking to attend a useful and valuable workshops and courses, check out EventBrite.
  2. Want to start up a company in Dubai, then contact The Bureau Dubai.
  3. Hang out at Hangry Hangers with Friends and Family and enjoy your time

Stand Up Comedy Show at Hangry Hangers

Hello after a very long break from blogging.

Tim has been helping me redesign the website while I add the logo on the images. The website is up and running but I’ve got lots of images to edit.

So what have we been up to lately?

Tim’s been commuting every day from Abu Dhabi and we’ve been attending workshops and events on weekends. Our recent event was a stand-up comedy live show at Hangry Hanger organised by Dubomedy.

Hangry Hanger is situated in a warehouse in Al Qouz, they’ve got indoor food trucks serving delicious street food. This is a Dubai concept and not a typical food trucks event and it is indoor due to the humid hot weather.

Post-99-BT-01.jpg

The event was successfull and lots of people showed up. Tim, Mimi, Ivana, Mohammad and I sat upstairs and watched the 2 hours show and just had a great laugh. So if you ever want to hang out indoors to escape the heat and have fast food out of a truck then hangry hanger is a great place for you to visit.

In addition, if you are interested in becoming a professional comedian, check out Dubomedy because they offer training courses and provide opportunity for you to be able to perform live in UAE.
