DUBAI: Road Trip to Hatta

It was February the 14th 2020, Valentines Day. When we all decided to go on a road trip to Hatta, Dubai. Hatta is known for Kayaking, Hiking and Resorts.

Hatta06

Our first stop was Hatta Kayak, we all decided to go kayaking. However, Diana, Danny, Ivan and Xin Wei rented a pedal boat. We then had lunch at an Omani restaurant called ‘Tanoor Lahm Restaurant’. Our last stop was a resort and entertainment hub called ‘Wadi Hub‘. It’s developed by Meraas and we just brought our camping chairs and mats and just sat there had chai karak and enjoyed the weather.

Here are the below locations:

DUBAI – Hyatt Regency Creekside

I had to go to Dubai for a doctors appointment so we decided to turn it into a weekend stay. So we booked a night at Hyatt Regency Creekside since it was very close to the clinic.

Tim enjoyed his stay at the hotel, he went for a swim and a massage. I spent the time with Renee talking and catching up and consuming the stuff in the mini fridge and mini bar. Guess What? IT WAS ALL FREE LOL since we booked a Club Member room.

The hotel offers a variety of restaurants and we had dinner at La Tablita, an authentic Mexican restaurant. The hotel is huge and has a lot of things to do and the location is really great, it has easy access to all parts of Dubai and also has a mall (Wafi Mall) near by and 15 minutes walk to the metro station.

DUBAI – Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung was introduced to us in 2015 when they first opened in Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. It was my first time to try Taiwanese Food and it was extremely delicious.

It is one of our favourite restaurants in Dubai and it is first come first serve basis but also fully booked so you’d have to wait 46 minutes to 2 hours depending on the amount of people.

When Tim and I went to Dubai, we were craving Din Tai Fung so here is what we ordered. Hopefully once we visit Taiwan, we get to try the original restaurant.

We highly recommend the restaurant and the chilli won-ton which we ate and forgot to take a picture of and is indeed worth the wait.

March 2018 Recap

I know that it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged so here is a recap if what has happened in the month of March.

Destinations we’ve visited

  • Barcelona, SpaiN
  • Gran Canaria, Canary Island also Spain
  • Between Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Highlights of the month

  • We’ve officially moved to Abu Dhabi
  • Our move wasn’t pleasant. The person in charge happened to have an emergency and left to his home country 3 days before our move and the person who handled our move was not efficient at all. The movers arrived at our Dubai flat at 7:45 PM. After some of our things were moved to the truck, they arrived to our Abu Dhabi home at 1 AM. We also had work the next day so nothing went according to plan and the house was in a chaotic state. It took us 2 weeks just moving furniture and yup, they broke some of our furniture.
  • We travelled to mainland Spain to take an internal flight to Gran Canaria to celebrate Tim’s dad’s 70th Birthday.

What have we watched?

NOTHING. We were too busy unpacking and fixing the damages.

What I read this month?

Started reading the ‘The Travels of Ibn Battuta’ by Tim Mcakintosh Smith

What have I blogged in March?

Nothing LOL.

I promise I will get back to blogging.

So, we currently have 3 more boxes to unpack which are mainly books and our new home will start looking like a home.

We were active on Instagram with our latest travels and we’ve been posting new pictures. Now that we are connected to the internet, I’ll be back to blogging ASAP.

Last Exit – Mad Max Theme

Now that Tim drives everyday to Abu Dhabi, he noticed that Meraas (UAE Real Estate Developer) were building a new Last Exit on the boarders of Dubai-Abu Dhabi but you know what’s cool about it..IT’S A MAD MAX THEME BABY!!!! They named it Last Exit Mad X.

As soon as they announced the opening, we went there as early as we could to check the place out. The ambience is much cooler than the other Last Exits but because it’s new, the place isn’t as busy as the others. They’ve got several Food Trucks with awesome international cuisines and we picked ‘The Stuffed Burger’.

Fresh Juices at Rose Leaf Cafe and Garden Shopping

Rose Leaf is a lovely coffee shop introduced by my dear friend Christina. Tim and I visited Dubai Garden Centre to look for indoor plants for our living room. We stopped at Rose Leaf Coffee Shop for Fresh Juice, the coffee shop is located in the Garden Centre itself. The vibe is so welcoming and cozy and makes you feel like you are away from the city and the desert.

Water Adventure and Dolphins at Atlantis

We celebrated my 28th birthday at Atlantis Palm Jumeirah. My birthday being in December wasn’t the great time for a water park but indeed the best time (low season) for the Swim with the Dolphin activity.

I absolutely had an amazing time and learned a lot about Dolphins and the staff made the Dolphins dance and they all sang Happy Birthday. Since we purchased the Dolphin Adventure & Royal Swim, we get a pass to Aqua Venture Water Park. Like I said it was a bad time for a water park because of the cold weather especially on that day; never less we had an awesome time together.
