DUBAI: Road Trip to Hatta

It was February the 14th 2020, Valentines Day. When we all decided to go on a road trip to Hatta, Dubai. Hatta is known for Kayaking, Hiking and Resorts.

Hatta06

Our first stop was Hatta Kayak, we all decided to go kayaking. However, Diana, Danny, Ivan and Xin Wei rented a pedal boat. We then had lunch at an Omani restaurant called ‘Tanoor Lahm Restaurant’. Our last stop was a resort and entertainment hub called ‘Wadi Hub‘. It’s developed by Meraas and we just brought our camping chairs and mats and just sat there had chai karak and enjoyed the weather.

Here are the below locations:

DUBAI – Hyatt Regency Creekside

I had to go to Dubai for a doctors appointment so we decided to turn it into a weekend stay. So we booked a night at Hyatt Regency Creekside since it was very close to the clinic.

Tim enjoyed his stay at the hotel, he went for a swim and a massage. I spent the time with Renee talking and catching up and consuming the stuff in the mini fridge and mini bar. Guess What? IT WAS ALL FREE LOL since we booked a Club Member room.

The hotel offers a variety of restaurants and we had dinner at La Tablita, an authentic Mexican restaurant. The hotel is huge and has a lot of things to do and the location is really great, it has easy access to all parts of Dubai and also has a mall (Wafi Mall) near by and 15 minutes walk to the metro station.

DUBAI – Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung was introduced to us in 2015 when they first opened in Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. It was my first time to try Taiwanese Food and it was extremely delicious.

It is one of our favourite restaurants in Dubai and it is first come first serve basis but also fully booked so you’d have to wait 46 minutes to 2 hours depending on the amount of people.

When Tim and I went to Dubai, we were craving Din Tai Fung so here is what we ordered. Hopefully once we visit Taiwan, we get to try the original restaurant.

We highly recommend the restaurant and the chilli won-ton which we ate and forgot to take a picture of and is indeed worth the wait.

DUBAI – Girls Spa Day at Waldorf Astoria

A perfect way to spend time with the girls is of course having a SPA DAY.

Tori was in the UAE visiting from Canada and wanted to arrange a girls outing and she did. She planned a Spa Day with the group.

We  used and abused the facilities of Waldorf Astoria Spa, we used the sauna and Jacuzzi and there were two steam rooms, one had the Himalayan salt and the other room was filled with dry herbs which was relaxing.

Right after our 90 minutes massage, we went to lay down on the water bed and yes, I’m not joking, it was a water bed. Hours later, we felt SO HUNGRY and decided to have lunch by the beach. We ordered quesadillas and truffle french fries with Parmesan cheese on top.

When it was time to leave, Ivana planned a gender reveal. Tori and Lina guessed it was a girl but I said boy and guess what IVANA IS HAVING A GIRL MASHALLAH.

Overall, we had an amazing time together and it was indeed enjoyable.

Kayaking in Hatta

Hey Guys,

Bellion Travels is somehow back. Last month, Tim, my brother and I drove to Hatta to check out the Hatta Dam. It’s takes 90 minutes from the main city of Dubai. However, we drove to Sharjah and headed to Hatta from there.

We got there at 11AM and left the place at around 3PM. Each one of us took a single kayak which costs around AED 60 each (approx. £11) for unlimited time. There are other activities such as double kayak, water bike, pedal boat, yellow boat, donut boat and tour boat.

The place was surreal and so calm. I took out my phone and played some 70’s music and just kayaked away. I highly recommend the place. You can also check out the village near by, the fish and vegetable market which is walking distance from the place. If you ever want to stay in Hatta, there’s the Hatta Fort Hotel. Tim and I stayed there for the weekend in 2015. I avoid posting about it because they’ve renovated the hotel and looks different from the time we visited.

We later stopped for lunch with my brothers friends and had shawarma and tabouleh. I highly recommend it and we will be visiting the place once the weather gets better.

Stand Up Comedy Show at Hangry Hangers

Hello after a very long break from blogging.

Tim has been helping me redesign the website while I add the logo on the images. The website is up and running but I’ve got lots of images to edit.

So what have we been up to lately?

Tim’s been commuting every day from Abu Dhabi and we’ve been attending workshops and events on weekends. Our recent event was a stand-up comedy live show at Hangry Hanger organised by Dubomedy.

Hangry Hanger is situated in a warehouse in Al Qouz, they’ve got indoor food trucks serving delicious street food. This is a Dubai concept and not a typical food trucks event and it is indoor due to the humid hot weather.

The event was successfull and lots of people showed up. Tim, Mimi, Ivana, Mohammad and I sat upstairs and watched the 2 hours show and just had a great laugh. So if you ever want to hang out indoors to escape the heat and have fast food out of a truck then hangry hanger is a great place for you to visit.

In addition, if you are interested in becoming a professional comedian, check out Dubomedy because they offer training courses and provide opportunity for you to be able to perform live in UAE.

Under the Sea – Dubai Aquariums

Tim and I have seen the best two aquariums in Dubai. The first one we visited is located in Dubai Mall which is one of the top 5 biggest aquariums in the world and is located in the biggest mall in the world. The place is called ‘Dubai Aquarium and Under Water Zoo’.

The second aquarium is called’The Lost Chambers’ and is located in the Atlantis. It’s one of the best resorts on the Palm Island. I PERSONALLY LOVE THAT PLACE. The aquarium has really awesome interiors and you’ll feel like you are in a Sci-Fi movie. The resort also has an amazing water park and offers an experience of a lifetime, swimming with dolphins which I will blog about separately.

Atlantis (1)Atlantis (3)Atlantis (2)

I highly recommend you visit both, there are activities such as diving with sharks, feeding fish and many many more…

There are other aquariums located in the UAE however those are the best ones so don’t miss it if you visit Dubai.

Jebel Jais

Jebel Jais is the tallest mountain in the UAE which is located in the northern part of  the country in an Emirate called ‘Ras Al Khaimah’.

Last year, Tim and I decided to go on a road trip to check out the mountain but we made the worst decision by going there on a public holiday (it was the Eid holiday) which of course led us to getting stuck in traffic. Obviously we lost our patience and decided to park the car mid way and continue walking. My God! The amount of people and cars that were there.

We managed to take photos and enjoy the view which kinda reminded us of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The view was peaceful and we just sat down munching on crisps and admiring the sunset from top of the world. As soon as it got dark, we headed back to the city and had dinner at Golden Fork.
