How we are spending our time at home due to Covid-19

Who has ever thought that when the virus was announced in January that it would turn into a world wide catastrophe. It is sad what the world is going through and how everyone’s life turned upside down and how businesses are not running smoothly but the planet is healing.

Tim and I are considered lucky and blessed that we are working from home, we have a home to keep us safe and a job to cover our expenses. Although I had a pay cut, I still consider it a blessing. I pray for each and every individual who is going through a difficult time during this crisis and I hope this will end soon.

Tim and I have been keeping ourselves busy and making sure we always have something to do. One of the pros of staying at home and being quarantined is that people get extremely bored and discover their hobbies and creativity. The amount of TikToks and videos that are going viral to entertain everyone in the globe is just wonderful.

We haven’t been doing anything crazy or anything extra ordinary but I would like to share with you, how we keep ourselves occupied all the time.

So here goes…

Weekdays from 8 AM – 5 PM: We have our breakfast and start working. During working hours, we put on music we never heard before or sometimes in my case, I listen to podcasts while working. Sometimes I do laundry, organise few things and cook lunch.

After 5 PM, we exercise a little then have dinner while watching Netflix. We also read books and take care of stray cats. We turned our porch and our back garden into a feeding station so cats can eat and we also place water for cats and birds to drink.

On weekends, Tim gets to sleep a lot. He usually wakes up at 11 AM – 1 PM. I’m a morning person so I’m awake by 7 AM and make breakfast and read a book and by 10ish AM, I watch one episode of any series that I know Tim might not find interesting. When Tim wakes up, we prepare lunch then we either read, watch old movies or paint.

In the evening, we have crackers and cheese and sit and discuss things while having tea. We also arrange Zoom Meetings with our friends to catch up. We always end up talking about the pandemic. I try to avoid the topic but people keep bringing it up. When friends or families send me a whatsapp message about it, I ignore and not reply. I believe in energy and if it is constantly being brought up, you attract the negative energy on yourself and the universe. I believe in praying or asking the universe for good health and to decrease the illness and make the world a better place.

Anyway this is what we have been doing at home and as soon as I finish reading 2 books, I will sign up for a Master Class and also an online language course to learn new things.

Let me know what you do and share how you spend your time at home.

Stay Home & Stay Safe

AL AIN: Cycling in Al Ain Oasis

An amazing historical place to visit in the UAE. It is approx. 3000 acre and it was built to tame the desert.

Tim and I rented a bicycle for an hour to ride around the oasis rather than walking it. Honestly, you can do both and it’s massive. Around the oasis, there are museums and art galleries to stop and see.

I highly recommend you visit Al Ain Oasis, I guarantee you will have a good time.

ABU DHABI: Mangrove Walk

The Mangrove Park  opened earlier this year and it was built on Al Jubail Island. The gates open at 8AM and close at 5PM. So to avoid the crowd due to the Covid-19, we decided to visit the park at 8AM LOL. By the way, there is no entrance fee and food and drinks are not allowed and they have a couple coffee shops at the entrance of the park. Other than that just enjoy the walk and we recommend to visit when it is high tide.

It was a beautiful morning walk and very surreal.

DUBAI: Road Trip to Hatta

It was February the 14th 2020, Valentines Day. When we all decided to go on a road trip to Hatta, Dubai. Hatta is known for Kayaking, Hiking and Resorts.

Hatta06

Our first stop was Hatta Kayak, we all decided to go kayaking. However, Diana, Danny, Ivan and Xin Wei rented a pedal boat. We then had lunch at an Omani restaurant called ‘Tanoor Lahm Restaurant’. Our last stop was a resort and entertainment hub called ‘Wadi Hub‘. It’s developed by Meraas and we just brought our camping chairs and mats and just sat there had chai karak and enjoyed the weather.

Here are the below locations:

Ras Al Khaimah- Road Trip to Ghost Village and Jebel El Jeis

It was the perfect Road Trip. We drove from Abu Dhabi to Dubai and picked up our friends and met my brother and his friends at a Petrol Station in Ajman and drove to Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). It was long trip but totally worth it.

We wanted to discover the famous Ghost Village in RAK also known as Al Jazirah Al Hamra and we did a quick stop at Al Hamra Mall to have lunch and bought a few snacks and drove to Jebel (Mountain) Al Jeis to go on a picnic and enjoy the weather.

We really had a great time and Jebel El Jeis is an amazing place to hike, to go on a picnic and to just hang out. Ghost Village on the other hand, is an abandoned town which is now slowly becoming a touristic attraction. Not much to do there but it was a nice walk since we were a group of friends discovering the town.

Also the movie 6 underground was filmed at the Ghost Town.

ABU DHABI – Ferrari World Theme Park

This would be my forth visit to Ferrari World Theme Park and my second time with Tim. The last time I visited was August 2014 and now here I am in 2019, experiencing new and exciting rides.

FW07

FW06

FW05

I don’t know what it is, maybe it is the age but I really couldn’t go on the ride more than once. I felt dizzy after every ride. Tim and his friends managed to enjoy the rides but I just watched and took videos.

FW03

FW02

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has the Worlds Fastest Rollercoaster and it is one of my favourite rides. It is the speed of 0 to 240 km/h in approx 5 seconds.

If ever you visit UAE, this is one of the best theme parks to check out. You will enjoy ‘THE SPEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDD………….’

ABU DHABI – BOYZLIFE at Taste of Abu Dhabi

Tim and I attended 2019 Taste of Abu Dhabi with our friends. OMG! It was insane. We got to meet the famous King of Cakes, Eric Lanlard. He taught us how to bake Paris Brest.

We also entered many competitions, got many freebies, tried a lot of free food, and paid to try samples from fine dining restaurants. We got stuff from Kibsons (my favourite), Coffee Planet, Spinneys, WeGo, Crate and Barrel, Truffles and many many more…..

Later at night, there was a performance by BoyzLife. The band members are ex Westlife member Brian McFadden and a Boyzone member,  Keith Duffy which makes it BoyzLife. So a food event turned into a 90’s concert and it made our day. Not Tim’s but surely mine and my best friend, Mimi.

ABU DHABI – EMINEM Return Concert

Yup! Eminem performed in Abu Dhabi AGAIN!!!!! This was my first Eminem concert and we had an awesome time. The show was phenomenal and we really had a great time.

Eminem07.jpg

However, the organisers did a horrible job. First, they locked the main gate to get to the concert which delayed the event. It was a 40 minute walk from the car to the concert. Afterwards, there was a long long long long……line which apparently did not lead to the entry gate. This situation delayed the concert and honestly, I do not want to talk much about it but like the say, the picture is worth a thousand words.

Other than that, EMINEM was AMAZING and we had a blast and we still can’t recover from the concert. It really was GREAT.
