Life ‘n One

If you are a Vegan or in love with Yoga and Nature then Life ‘n One is the best place for you. I asked Tim where he wanted to go for lunch and he said he wanted something healthy. So I took him to a Vegan place and Tim loves meat so I laughed a lot when he was going through the menu.

Anyway the place is not quite difficult to find and parking is not an issue. It is a reasonable sized villa that offers Yoga and Meditation classes. In the backyard or as the English call it a garden, they have a cosy set up with wooden tables and chairs and very colourful theme for people to enjoy their meal, work on their laptop or even read a book.

Life ‘n One is slightly over charged (that’s my opinion) but overall the experience was pleasant. They served us flavoured water, Tim had a vegan burger and I ordered a quinoa salad with kale. In addition, we both had seaweed salad on the side which was my favourite.

So if ever you want to visit, I’d say morning would be the best time and also the place is animal friendly. Oh one of more info, you’ll pay your bill at the exit where you can also enquire about the Yoga and Meditation classes.

A Farm in the Desert

Al Barari is the name of the farm located in Dubai in the middle of an unexpected location. The access to the farm is through the high way or how my husband calls it ‘motor way’.

The place is so peaceful and the food’s deliciously healthy. You’ll have to book days in advance to get a decent table and the farm is always better to be visited in winter, DUBAI WINTER because of the outdoor area.

Tim and I visited in January and had a lovely breakfast by the pond. If ever you would like to visit, you can contact the farm on +971 4 392 5660 or check out their website www.thefarmdubai.ae. It is worth the visit.

Around the World in One (1) Day

1996 was the year when Dubai Shopping Festival began and it was a huge thing back then. People from around the world would visit just to go shopping. It was held from Feb – March however currently it’s being held for months. One of the concepts for Shopping Festival was to have ‘Global Village’.

It’s one of my favourite places to go for food shopping. Why is that you say? Well because distributors and traders bring unique products from housewares, clothes, food, equipment’s etc. from all around the world.

When Tim moved to Dubai, I recommended that we should go and check it out because he loves trying out  food from around the world. We bought Zaatar (dried thyme) from Palestine, teas from China, Lattes and Sweets from Japan, Nuts from Iran, Apple Tea and Coffee from Turkey and the list goes on and on…..

Last year, we took my mother in law and my brothers around the world for 1 day. We had a great time, watching live performances and trying out food samples.

Global Village opens in November and closes beginning of April. So visit anytime in between. February and March are the perfect months to visit because the weather won’t be cold and won’t be hot and doesn’t rain much.

Bon Voyage 🙂

Hipster Hotel in Dubai

Rove Hotel offers an urban hipster kinda looking style hotel for budgeted travellers. The company I work for offered discounted rates for staff in any of the 3 branches in Dubai. So Tim and I selected Downtown area, it is closer to Dubai Mall and the hub of the city.

We’ve booked 2 rooms so that my father and brothers can experience the hotel and it’s accommodating services. We paid £40 (AED 200) a night inclusive of breakfast and tax. We all arrived at 1PM for an early check in. Later, we got into our swimming suits and went for a swim and of course sun bathing.

As it got dark, we went back to our rooms to rest a little and get ready for dinner. We then went for a walk to Dubai Mall which took us around 15 minutes. We had the entertainer vouchers so we ate at an Asian restaurant called ‘Japengo’.

We went back to our hotel to have tea and juices at their only restaurant called ‘The Daily’ and it’s the same place where we had our breakfast. The next day, we woke up at 6AM went straight to the gym and afterwards had breakfast and of course went for a swim.

The hotel is a lovely place to stay, it’s cozy and affordable. The ambiance is urban but homely and the reception has a play station for the people to play. Definitely a good hotel to stay at for budgeted travellers.
